About The Event

The Educational Leader position is becoming increasingly recognised for the important role it is, and 2018 saw ACECQA releasing an extensive guide to strong educational leadership in early childhood. But sometimes it helps to get face to face advice from someone who has successfully taken on the job!

In this session we go in to what it takes to be an inspiring leader in early childhood. We discuss leadership styles and techniques before looking at ways of embedding a culture of reflective practice and quality pedagogy in your service. We will also focus on techniques for keeping the team inspired and engaged in quality pedagogical practice, including sustaining a mentorship program to keep all educators informed and enthused.

For a taste of what you will learn on the day see Kate’s articles on the subject (listed under the publications tab). Designed for anyone who is within a leadership role or looking to move towards this in the future, we will discuss some of the following topics:

  • What is educational leadership?
  • Let’s talk philosophy.
  • Advocating for early childhood education.
  • Exploring principles of early childhood education.
  • Successful mentorship programs.
  • Promoting quality pedagogical practices.
  • Leading a curriculum.
  • Promoting reflective practice.

Presenter: Kate (bio under philosophy tab). Includes resource kit and lunch.

Completing this course will contribute 5 hours of NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) Registered PD addressing 6.2.2, 6.3.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW.
