About the event

The Educational Leader position is a hugely important role in the Early Childhood Service with the NQS mentioning the responsibilities of the EL over 100 times throughout the 15 standards. Kate has a deep understanding of this role, having successfully led a large service through an exceeding A&R as the EL.

In this session we go in to what it takes to be an inspiring leader in early childhood. We discuss leadership styles and techniques before looking at ways of embedding a culture of reflective practice and quality pedagogy in your service. We will also focus on techniques for keeping the team inspired and engaged in quality pedagogical practice, including sustaining a mentorship program to keep all educators informed and enthused.

For a taste of what you will learn on the day see Kate’s articles on the subject (listed under the publications tab). Designed for anyone who is within a leadership role or looking to move towards this in the future, we will discuss some of the following topics:

  • What is educational leadership?
  • Let’s talk philosophy.
  • Advocating for early childhood education.
  • Exploring principles of early childhood education.
